It’s December 2014 – time for the Cool Company Awards – an important milestone on the Anthill Online calendar.
In James Tuckerman’s words ‘Cool Companies manage to stay one step ahead of the rest. They breed leaders who are rule-makers and rule-breakers. They are organisations that aspire to be admired. They are trend-setters in attitude and action. Quite simply, they are… cool!’
The awards night was approaching and James asked me to come along and capture the people receiving their awards and a few groups smiling and having fun to the camera.
This is called event photography.
‘Lineups’ dotted with ‘candids’ are typically expected.
When I arrived I imagined how it must feel to be the finalists arriving, from all around Australia, to see if they’d won their category, to meet James, and have a memorable night.
That inspired me to build a photo story around the whole event:
The anticipation, excitement, interactions with the intent that it will make people who see these pictures kinda feel like maybe they missed out on something…and the usual group lineups too 🙂
I thought this approach might help James spur on interest for next year.
Do you think it worked?
(I love the bit from 57 seconds – that’s his mum.)
