I had an absolutely FABULOUS opening night last night, it was a stunning turnout. The ambassador from Morocco His Excellency Mr Mohamed Mael-Ainin was there, I had a fabulous client Trish Smith whose family story I have been capturing for many years open the night, a certified AIPP god called David Paterson played MC…the sponsors were all awesome, even Brendan from Art Direction dragged himself out of bed with some sort of lurgy to attend. I had brilliant pictures taken by Steven Murray of Creative Image Photography. Ro and Merry were my angels, they ensured everyone was welcome and knew where to go for anything they needed. We had a great little boogie to Los Chavos afterwards…The print prize valued at $880 sponsored by Exhibition Centre was won by a lovely lady called Liz, she was stoked to win it. Everybody received a nice little free gift for the evening, the wine was proudly supported by Mount Majura Vineyard (thank you Julia). My work came up a treat on the wall thanks to Deb at Exhibition Centre, and my last minute curatorial advice did not go unnoticed from the talented Dan O’Day. Thank you also to Clint of Three Sides Marketing for your invaluable input. I’ve had great feedback today on the speeches, lots of phone calls and texts and emails from so many lovely people thanking me for the evening and wishing me well.
Wow, what a great feeling to see it all come together. Some time ago I thought wouldn’t it be nice to have some of these pictures seen? And look where that led!
I’ve had an article on it published in the Canberra Times and I’ll be gathering my nerves in a tight little ball and sitting on them while I am interviewed on ABC 666 Sunday morning radio at 11.00am.
You can see more images here on my BJP Facebook page.
Thanks again everyone, this has given me a lot of confidence and interest to explore hanging my images in exhibitions again in the future…stay tuned 🙂
