My latest family portrait session was held with Tina, Adam and Ella. Back in 2001 I photographed Tina and Adam at their wedding, and it was my good fortune to be able to return this year and photograph them with their latest addition, Ella. So this makes for instalment two of their Family Story.
I’ve been encouraging the families I photograph to think about injecting something of themselves into the session, so that we end up with a more personalised result. Adam is a building designer and he loves an opportunity to focus on buildings and man-made structures. So the suggestion was that we go to Reconciliation Place which is a reasonably new addition to the Canberra landscape. (It was built to commemorate the reconciliation between white settlers and Australia’s indigenous population). Although the place chosen was not of a particular symbolic importance, it was more so in the literal sense as the whole area is dotted with fantastic shapes, lines, forms and geometry.
We had such a fun shoot, and the addition of Chilli the dog was brilliant!
Many thanks to Adam, Tina, Ella and Chilli.
